Personal Safety Presentation
We have become all too familiar with stories of sexual abuse being reported by the media. More and more of these crimes involve children as victims and victimizers. Once a problem that was rarely discussed, sexual abuse is now a prominent concern for all.
As parents, educators, and caregivers we need to teach our children how to recognize inappropriate behavior, how to act assertively to keep themselves safe, how to seek help from trusted adults, and how to behave respectfully towards others.
Harbor House will visit Tanner school on December 5th to conduct Protective Behaviors programming regarding healthy vs. unhealthy behaviors both physically and verbally, how to be safe at home, setting personal boundaries, body ownership, safe vs unsafe touching, the “body touching rule,” and reporting to trusted adults. This education program stresses “personal safety.”
It is when we empower our children with knowledge that they gain a sense of personal competency and feel comfortable seeking out assistance from a trusted adult when needed. Child sexual abuse is highly preventable when we know the warning signs and learn how to respond appropriately. Please continue the conversation with your child at home.
Should you have any questions or concerns regarding the program or presentation, please feel free to notify Jennifer or Jua (Harbor House Prevention Education) or Kristin Charneski (Tanner Early Learning Center School Counselor) . If you would like to attend your child’s presentation, please see the schedule on the back side and check in at the main office.

Community Events and Activity Flyers
There are a great many worthy undertakings in the Kaukauna Area School District that understandably deserve public support. The Board of Education/School District assists with this process in providing notice to students and/or families of certain non-school-related community activities/programs that are for public school-age students (that apply and meet policy conditions).
